We are pleased to report that thanks to the generosity of our partners, Radio Concepción 103.5 FM in the K’ekchi’ region of north-central Guatemala went back on the air August 20. Earlier in the year—in March–their vintage transmitter and antenna were disabled and they have been off the air ever since. MBI provided a new Dominator FM antenna, a 350-watt transmitter, an audio mixer–a 100-foot guyed tower and a coaxial cable.
Concepción is one of those very remote villages “in the bush” that are extremely difficult to get to because the mountainous roads are surfaced with either rough rocks or mud. MBI has supplied the station with an external hard drive with lots of good programming and music. The people there love to call the station to request their favorite songs.
